On January 7, 1915 the Oklahoma Banking Board approved a charter for The First State Bank in Villa, Oklahoma, which was never opened due to economic conditions. On June 23, 1915, H.F. Johnson acquired ownership of The First State Bank and applied to the Banking Board to move the Charter to Boise City. On July 27, 1915 the charter was amended. The charter was moved to Boise City and The First State Bank opened for business on August 6, 1915 with total assets of $19,301.88. The First State Bank of Boise City survived the perils of The Great Depression and the Dust Bowl days and continues to serve the financial needs of the community as a locally owned independent bank.
